Function of Branch

Providing contribution for curriculum development programs.

Organizing programs in collaboration with National Institute of Education, Department of Examinations, Educational Publications Department.

Development of the subjects relevant to the branch, monitoring, policy formation and provide contribution to reforms activities.

Organizing special result improving programs for the provinces with low achievement levels through the analysis of national level results.   

Planning annual competitions, organization and conducting (Provincial, all island and national level)

Sensitize provincial subject coordinating officers about the programs.

Taking actions to improve the accomplishment level of teachers, In-service Advisors and Subject Directors through organizing capacity building programs employing new technology for teaching learning process at zonal and provincial levels.

Printing “Nuwana” magazine by Sinhala language unit and “Kurmathi” magazine by Tamil language unit annually.

Preparing Question papers for G.C.E. Advanced Level and G.C.E. Ordinary Level examinations relevant to the subjects of the branch.
