Function of Branch

Maintaining Regional English Support Centers (RESC) covering all provinces for the improvement of teachers of English, coordinating programs, supervision and monitoring and filling the vacancies of these centers.

Conducting annual English Language and Drama competitions those are conducted at national level for the improvement of the quality of English language of school children and releasing the results and issuing certificates.

Continuous progress reviewing with zonal and provincial English coordinating officers (D.E. / D.D.E. / A.D.E.)

Teaching skills development of teachers who are teaching foreign languages (eg. Chinese language, Korean language, French language Hindi, German, Japanese etc.)

Furnishing approval of the Secretary of Education to teachers and students for foreign scholarship training programs. 

Coordinating the affairs related to school English text books.

Coordinating the programs with National Institute of Education.

Coordination with British Council, Embassies and other international organizations with regard to English and other foreign languages teaching and teacher training activities.  

Production of additional learning material for the students showing weakness at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination.
